David was a longtime member of Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club and was a very well respected bowler and umpire. He will be very much missed by all who knew him. Our sincerest condolences to Diane, his wife who is also a member of our Club.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emily Lawson (nee Davis) on December 3, 2020. Emily passed away peacefully at 81 years of age in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving gamily and will be greatly missed. Emily was born in Durham, England on January 5th, 1939. The Lawson family emigrated to Canada in 1970, residing in Grande Cache, Alberta before moving to Cedar, BC in 1975. Emily is survived by her daughter Judith (Graham) her sons Steve (JoAnn) and Brad (Karen), her grandsons Brandon and Sean, and her sisters Nora (Stan) and Kathleen (Harry) in England. She was predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and George, her brother Geoffrey, and her husband Brian. Emily enjoyed quilting and reading, and was an avid follower of tennis and soccer, but she was particularly fond of lawn bowling. As a well-loved member of the Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club, Emily became an accomplished bowler and made many friends through her involvement in the sport.
Many of our longtime bowlers will remember Mim. She was very active in the community and most passionate about lawn bowling. She was 98 when she passed on October 2nd, 2020 and once said she had many happy years playing in tournaments and making good friends at our club. Mim will be missed by all who knew her.
Peter Lauri Puttonen
Peter Puttonen, 76, of Nanaimo passed away at the Nanaimo Hospital on February 13, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents, Lauri and Valma Puttonen and is survived by his life partner Bernice, his son Alex (Danielle) and daughter Katharine. Peter was born in Finland and came to Canada at the age of 8. He had a career in Vancouver as a technician in broadcasting and consumer electronics until his retirement in 2000 when he continued to be involved in computer technology and photography; skills valued by the Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 22 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Agency or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Pat MacLachlan, long-time member of the Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club passed away peacefully on January 14 2020 at age 96. She will be remembered for her great sense of fun and her enjoyment of lawn bowls well into her 90s. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 15 at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Avenue Nanaimo; 1:00 – 3:00 PM
David Scobie, NLBC member since 1993 passed away on Feb 4 2020. Condolences go out to his family who remember how much he enjoyed lawn bowling; it was one of the highlights of his week. Services will be held on Saturday February 15 at Trinity United Church, 6234 Spartan Road, Nanaimo at 11:00 AM
